‘Terror Train’ Remake Heads to Tubi on Oct. 21
The free streaming service Tubi is really upping its game when it comes to original content. From this year’s Titanic 666 to its updated spin on Alone in the Dark to this 1980 remake of Terror Train, the streamer is finding its footing among the heavy hitters. The recent uptick in original programming might have something to do with Fox buying the property back in 2020.
The original starred Jamie Lee Curtis in her formative years just coming off the success of her role as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s Halloween. Coincidently, Curtis has just finished her final run of that character in the reboot trilogy this weekend.
Coming from Incendo Productions, this Terror Train version is basically the same as the original if you follow their synopsis:
“Eerie excitement is in the air as Alana (Robyn Alomar) and a group of college seniors board a party train for a Halloween-themed bash, but their fun spirals into fear as attendees are killed off one by one by an unknown killer. Concealed by costumes and plagued with chaos, everyone is a suspect. As the party train continues full steam ahead, Alana must race against the rails to find the killer before she becomes the next victim.”
Speaking of the 1978 Halloween movie, the original Terror Train was actually born from an idea writer Daniel Grodnik had about making “Halloween on a train.” His wife thought it was a terrible idea, but determined, Grodnik wrote it anyway.
According to IMDb Curtis had this to say about her role on the original film: “There are certain things a heroine in a thriller has to be. She has to be vulnerable, so that the audience identifies with her and is rooting for her. But she also has to have an enormous inner strength to overcome the evil, or terror, that is pursuing her. I play the same kind of character as I did in other films. But Alana – the girl I play – is stronger and more defined.”
According to Bloody Disgusting, Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer of Tubi, wants to make the platform a Halloween destination for horror content every year.
“We can’t wait for viewers to take a ride on the Terror Train, the tentpole for our annual ‘Terror on Tubi’ event in October. With an incredibly talented team of filmmakers and star-making performances, this movie continues to cement Tubi as a key destination for horror fans.”
Tubi is a free digital service supported by commercials. Terror Train will be available on the channel starting October 21.
