A Miami woman recently made headlines after stabbing her partner. CBS News Miami reports that Sandra Jimenez and her boyfriend, Miguel Tellez, got into a heated argument regarding Tellez’s wandering eye. Tellez’s tendency to look at other women has reportedly been a chronic source of tension between the pair. As the disagreement continued to grow more heated, Jimenez lost her cool and jumped on top of Tellez, who was lying on the sofa. She then plunged two hypodermic needles into his right eyelid. Following the altercation, Tellez phoned authorities and was treated for his injuries at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The hypodermic needles that Jimenez weaponized contained rabies shots intended for canines. But it’s somewhat unclear as to why the medication was on hand in the first place. Florida has legislation requiring that domestic housepets only be immunized by a licensed veterinarian. But if I’ve learned anything from covering true crime, it’s that the people of Florida often do things a little differently.

Following the attack, Jimenez came to her senses and realized she’d made a grave mistake. She quickly fled the scene. Not long after that, Miami police located the aggressor sleeping in her car.

According to a police report, Jiminez told officers that Tellez’s wounds were self-inflicted. That story didn’t do anything to convince authorities of her innocence, however, and Jimenez was taken into custody on charges of battery and aggravated assault.

A Miami-Dade County circuit court judge told Jiminez to stay away from Tellez or face further charges. She entered a plea of not guilty and was subsequently placed on house arrest.
