Shark Tank India Season 3 Episode 13: What Is Daak Room?
In episode 13 of Shark Tank India, a cultural enterprise, Daak Room, was highlighted in the pitch. During the episode, founders Shivani Mehta and Harnehmat Kaur introduced their startup to the sharks. They asked for an investment of $43.3 thousand for 4 per cent equity.
Daak Room is a cultural enterprise committed to revitalizing the art of handwritten communication through creative events, partnerships, campaigns, products, and workshops. It has a vision to promote a digital detox culture. The name comes from the Hindi word Daak means post.
Before projecting the idea, all sharks received heart-melting letters from their loved ones via Daak Room. Afterwards, the founders asked for investment and claimed that their startup was once praised by PM Narendra Modi. All the sharks were impressed by the idea but refused to invest.
As Shark Aman Gupta said, “This used to happen in very old times. It’s not a business. I am out because I don’t have the same passion for writing like you guys, so I won’t be able to add more value.” Another shark, Peyush Bansal, said, “I am not able to understand what your exact service that is being offered is, and what your revenue model is.”
In the end, the CEO of OYO Rooms, Ritesh Agarwal, sealed a deal with Daak Room founders for a 6 per cent stake in exchange for $43.3. Also, with the condition if they met their revenue targets, the stake would drop to 5 per cent.
