Fashion Week Street Style Fall 2023
The four-city Fashion Week marathon is fully underway, starting in New York City before venturing off to London, Milan, and Paris. Designers on the runway are debuting a fresh crop of trends for the fall 2023 season, from the no-pants look at Christian Siriano to sensual side cutouts at Prabal Gurung. Likewise, celebrities are making grand style statements on the Fashion Week front row, wearing plunging necklines and low-rise skirts. But despite all the fashion influence on the runway and front row, most shoppers turn to street style for inspiration when curating their everyday wardrobes.
Though street style has been historically and regrettably homogenous, while being devoid of true personal style, this series of images goes against the fray. Photographed by Darrel Hunter, these pictures celebrate inclusivity, not only in race, size, and gender, but also in one’s approach to personal style. Much like on the runway, a myriad of trends is emerging outside the shows — oversize denim, colorblocking, camouflage — but each street-style interpretation here is unique. One showgoer embraces the pop-of-color trend with a bright-green sweater and neutrals, another wears monochromatic gray punctuated with red socks. A stylish attendee pairs yellow-and-orange camo pants with a silver bag, another wears a green camo suit with white heels.
Even denim trends are being reimagined for a new season: wide-leg jeans styled with a fitted jacket; baggy ’90s-style denim paired smartly with a blazer; a Canadian tuxedo worn with square-toe heels. And finally, the colorblocking trend is proving it can transcend seasons, with winter-ready bright dresses teamed with coats in complementary colors.
