One thing that has long defined the Fendi brand? Family. More specifically, matriarchal members. For the fashion house’s 2024 Peekaboo campaign, artistic director Kim Jones has tapped iconic supermodel Kate Moss and her daughter Lila Grace Moss to personify the famed Peekaboo handbag. Matching purses with your mom? Cute!

This news comes as no surprise, as the mother-daughter modelling duo made a runway appearance at Jones’s debut collection for Fendi Couture back in January 2021.

An investigative exhibition is coming to the Bata Shoe Museum

Love a good murder mystery? Over at Toronto’s Bata Shoe Museum, Exhibit A: Investigating Crime and Footwear is opening to the public on April 18 and will run for 18 months. The exhibition looks at the social constructs of criminal activity from the nineteenth century through to today, and considers how clothing and footwear influence cultural ideas informed by assumptions and bias. Simply put, it attempts to show the ways in which crime and footwear intersect.

Curated by Bata Shoe Museum Director and Senior Curator Elizabeth Semmelhack and Dr. Alison Matthews David, a professor at the School of Fashion at Toronto Metropolitan University, museum-goers can expect to be surprised by what they see and learn.

Some exhibit highlights include “Flannelfoot,” a look at London’s most famous house burglar who was known for wrapping his feet in flannel cloths to muffle and mask his footsteps (he was finally caught in 1937 after a notorious 25-year career of petty crime!) to “High Top Sneakers,” which unveils that once upon a time, the word sneaker was used to describe criminals, as the rubber soles allowed wearers to sneak around making virtually no noise.

Every spring, the School of Fashion at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) presents Mass Exodus, a year-end showcase celebrating the final projects of fourth year Fashion students. This year’s event will take place on April 13 and the theme is “Slate.” It aims to pare back the theatrics of typical runways, focusing on the core fundamentals of fashion — in this case, the students’ hard work.

And with such an abundance of creativity amongst TMU’s student body, Mass Exodus will be hosting three runway shows this year. Simultaneously, an exhibition located on the third floor of the SLC will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day.
