On Friday, The Weeknd returned to Toronto to close off the North American leg of his After Hours Till Dawn tour with two, long-awaited shows. To welcome him back to his hometown, Roots designed a custom varsity jacket for the “Blinding Lights” artist to keep. While the embroidery and patches on the Roots piece pay tribute to The Weeknd, the real artistry is inside, as the lining is adorned with art inspired by his Dawn FM album.

In this country, the jacket is the outfit — but Freed already knew that

Welcome to Canada, where most of our style is conveyed through coats, because we don’t really have any other option. But thanks to Winnipeg-based outerwear brand Freed, options are actually aplenty. Their latest offering for Fall 2022 — the genderless Repurposed Collection, available October 1 — zeros in on no waste with a side of spunky silhouettes, fuzzy vegan fabrics and palettes that require a no-comfort-zone attitude.

Jeanne Beker is honoured for her lifetime achievement

This past Wednesday, the inaugural Women Empowerment Awards took place in Toronto’s ritzy Shangri-La hotel. Set to celebrate the diverse achievements of women involved in Canadian business, leadership and community service, the ceremony honoured Jeanne Beker, fashion icon and award-winning journalist for her lifetime achievement. It was a righteous recognition indeed; the ever-astute Beker has empowered and supported women as change-makers throughout the span of her decades-long career, and we have a feeling she isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Athleticwear doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to go do athletic things. The concept of performance and lifestyle pieces have melted into one another, leaving behind fewer rules than there once were. You could put on a sleek co-ord to grab groceries, or a trusty zip-up for a casual Friday WFH day. Case in point: Athleta’s latest collection kicks off the fall season with an eight-piece capsule that takes customers through every part of their day. And thanks to the “Athleta Look,” the eight-piece collection can really create twenty different outfits.

Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Cashmere Collection held its 19th annual fundraiser. Kicking off with a fashion show last Thursday titled Celestial Awakening: A Celebration of Strength, Hope and Compassion, a full audience gathered round to see a parade of looks designed by 12 Canadian designers, using nothing but soft sheets of the new Cashmere UltraLuxe Bathroom Tissue. To show support for the cause, Canadians are invited to vote for their favourite design through Vote Couture for the Cure, which will raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society and Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
