What Fashion People Are Wearing This Fall
This year, I approached fall shopping with a different strategy than usual. Instead of ordering straight from the new-arrivals pages mid-July, I decided to wait it out to see what my fellow editors and the New York fashion set were actually styling for the season. Trends are famously predicted months in advance, and no one does a better job of doing so than my colleagues. With my limited closet space and deep desire to keep my finances in order, I took my time to see which ones made the editors’ final cuts. Whatever is in the air this trend cycle, I’m so here for it. Outfits are getting simpler, cooler, and easier to achieve. Barn coats, dark denim, silver cuffs, suede tote bags, and burgundy loafers from Odissì Studio are just a few pieces I have spotted on repeat. A simple outfit formula like a cashmere sweater, a pleated miniskirt, and pair of riding boots will have you looking like you just stepped off the Miu Miu runway (which is always the goal, no?). This season, it won’t take much to have great style, just a strategic shopping list. Mine is below.
Pixie Market
Oversize Barbour Jacket
Out of all the barn coats on the market, this one is my favorite.
Lioness
Prince Rugby Sweater
Rugby-style shirts are already trending, but this ribbed knit version feels more elevated.
By Anthropologie
Faux-Suede Trench Coat
Real suede comes with a hefty price tag, but this faux style is equally as luxe looking.
J.Crew
Featherweight Cashmere-Blend Long-Sleeve Polo Shirt
You know what is always a good investment? J.Crew cashmere.

Ennio Faux-Leather Bomber Jacket
The shape! The color! The material! It has all the makings of a perfect fall jacket.
COS
Pure Cashmere Sweater
Take styling notes on this layered look.
abercrombie
Pleated Mini Skort
The fact that this is a skort makes it 110% more wearable.
Again with the layered look. Are we sensing a pattern?
A pop of rich red does an outfit good.
Citizens of Humanity
Baretta Relaxed Straight in Piovere
Relaxed but not overly baggy is the correct move this season.
St Agni
Raw Edge Column Maxi Skirt
Pencil and column skirts are favorites among editors this fall.
We The Free
Roscoe Cord Pull-On Jeans
In traditional autumnal fashion, I must include this cool pair of drawstring cords.
Odissì Studio
Frances Natural Soft Suede Cowboy Boot
A suede Western boot is at the top of my footwear list.
Odissì Studio
Kali Burgundy Leather Loafer
A blazer, white tee, pair of jeans, and these loafers will be my fall uniform—just watch.
Odissì Studio
Hailey Black Leather Biker Boot
The coolest NYC gals are wearing biker boots with their slip dresses and bomber jackets.
Odissì Studio
Emilie Black Leather Riding Boot
Preppy cool is how I would describe these chic boots.
Odissì Studio
Lou Brown Python-Effect Leather Ballerina
Ah, ballet flats—the shoe trend showing no sign of slowing down.
Odissì Studio
Ella Natural Suede Leather Bootie
A classic option that will never go out of style.
Madewell
The Essential Bucket Tote
It’s hard to believe this luxe tote is under $200.

Flat Drop Cuff Bracelet, Silver
A styling tip I’m stealing from my fellow editors is to place the cuff over a long-sleeve tee or blazer.
Flattered
Hanna Mini Bag Leather Burgundy
This bag hits the fall trend jackpot: burgundy and sculptural hardware.
COS
Double-Hoop Clip-On Earrings
I love a chunky silver earring.
Metier
Incognito Large Cabas Bag Suede Marrakech
As far as an investment bag goes, a large suede work tote is the clear front-runner.
Fossil
Raquel Three-Hand Date Gold-Tone Stainless Steel Watch
In terms of price, style, and quality, it doesn’t get better than the Fossil Raquel watch.
