A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 6 Trailer Shows an Upsetting Split

The emotional fallout from the latest chapter is already stirring concern among fans of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. A newly released preview of Episode 6 hints that the bond between Ser Duncan the Tall and young Egg may be heading for rough waters. With grief still fresh after a shocking death, the next episode appears ready to test loyalties and relationships in a major way.

Could Dunk and Egg be separated after Baelor’s death?

Episode 5 closed on a dramatic note after Dunk survived the brutal Trial of Seven. Prince Aerion Targaryen ultimately yielded and withdrew his accusations, handing Dunk a hard-fought victory.

Though badly injured, the hedge knight lived to fight another day. Prince Baelor Targaryen praised Dunk’s bravery, saying he needed “good men” like him at his side. Moments later, Baelor’s helmet was removed, revealing the fatal wound delivered by his brother Maekar I Targaryen. Baelor soon died from the injury.

The Episode 6 trailer focuses heavily on the aftermath of that loss. Dunk is shown grieving and questioning why Baelor would risk his life for him. In response, Lyonel Baratheon tells him Baelor fought men sworn to protect him, implying the prince believed he had little to lose. Another tense moment comes when Valarr Targaryen reflects on Baelor’s potential, noting he had all the qualities of a great king and questioning why fate spared Dunk instead.

The biggest development arrives when Maekar summons Dunk. He explains that his son, Prince Aegon Targaryen (Egg), speaks fondly of Dunk and refuses to serve any other knight. Maekar asks Dunk to take Egg back as his squire. Dunk, however, pushes back, saying he is “done with princes.” A brief darkened shot in the trailer shows Egg telling Dunk that maybe he is not the knight he believed him to be.

The split is not confirmed, and the preview leaves room for reconciliation. Still, the tension suggests real strain between the pair. Even if Dunk hesitates, the trailer makes one thing clear: Egg’s respect for the hedge knight remains strong, setting up an emotional crossroads in the episodes ahead.
