Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Costume & Weapons Gets Exciting New Look
Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor is coming in swinging against Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Hot Toys revealed a new look at Thor, revealing what exactly the God of Thunder will be sporting as he heads into battle against Victor von Doom.
While fans have seen Thor fight Doom in the trailers, Hot Toys provided a more detailed look at what exactly the Avenger will be wearing and wielding during the fight. The 1/6 Scale Collectible shows Thor decked out in Asgardian sleeveless armor, reminiscent of his look from Thor: Ragnarok. However, this time, the God of Thunder sports a full royal cape, as opposed to the single-shoulder cape that he had during his time on Sakaar.
The figure shows Thor wielding both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir, just like he did while fighting Thanos. It comes with separate, rolling, movable eyeballs, with a luminous reflective effect. The figure’s points of articulation allow for dynamic battle posing as well. It also comes with lighting effect attachments with an integrated USB-powered white LED light-up function.
The latest update on Avengers: Doomsday
Avengers: Doomsday is planning to bring together a version of Fox’s X-Men, the most recent iteration of the Fantastic Four, and other familiar heroes to the mainline MCU. As fans get ready for what an entire Marvel sandbox looks like, some recent developments have raised eyebrows.
The Russo Brothers, who previously helmed four of the MCU’s most successful films, revealed that Doomsday production started even before the film had a finished script. Joe Russo said, “We like to see what the actors bring to the characters, and sometimes you don’t get the actors until a few days or few weeks before you shoot them. And a lot of the time, that’s when the magic happens.”
The directors have further revealed one of the main inspirations for Doomsday: Sergio Leone’s 1968 spaghetti Western, Once Upon a Time in the West. While it may not be the official first choice, the structure and narrative of Once Upon a Time in the West align comfortably with the various factions set to clash in the film.
Leone’s narrative depicts multiple sets of characters, each with their own agenda. Given that we have already seen some friction between the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and The Avengers in the trailer, one could imagine that the personal agendas colliding with the bigger goal might be the exact structure that the film needs.
