While the Invincible animated series is poised to continue strongly for more seasons, fans of the comic series which the animated show is based on want to know if the comic has finished and whether or not creator Robert Kirkman would write more issues. Here are both your questions answered.
Is the Invincible comic finished and ended?
Yes, the Invincible comic is finished and ended.
The Invincible comic has ended its comic book run after 144 issues and 25 volumes, the release of which spanned over 15 years between 2003 and 2018. According to creator, Robert Kirkman, who was in attendance at an SDCC panel in 2023 involving the cast and crew of the Amazon Prime Video series, the comic series got a proper ending and a sense of finality as a way of playing against type when it came to telling a superhero story.
Kirkman’s statement summed up how the comic story progressed in one linear path, where there was a beginning, a middle, and an ending, unlike most Marvel and DC comics, where there are multiple reboots of a story that happen randomly at any point of the story. We follow Mark Grayson on a hero’s journey where he goes from a person trying to find his place in the world to fighting against threats that are a match for him or stronger, and finally becoming a Viltrumite emperor with Atom Eve at his side and a protector of the galaxy.
Will Robert Kirkman write more Invincible issues?

Kirkman then quickly dismissed any notion of the Invincible comic series returning by stating that he wanted to give readers the notion that the universe was still ongoing with its events even though readers would not get to see what is happening.
