The upcoming film will be the follow-up to Samuel’s 2021 film The Harder They Fall, a Netflix western film that was praised for its diverse cast of star-studded actors and incredible score. Not too much is known about The Book of Clarence as of now, but Samuel did describe it as a “fun-filled extravaganza” in the vein of biblical epics such as The Ten Commandments or The Greatest Story Ever Told in an interview with Deadline in May.
“You remember those biblical epics, whether they were about the Bible or just taking place around it, from The Ten Commandments to The Greatest Story Ever Told, Samson and Delilah and Ben-Hur, which runs alongside all that stuff in the Bible? As will be The Book of Clarence, a full fun-filled extravaganza. It’s written and ready to go, and set in 29 AD,” said Samuel.

The project will also reunite Samuel with Stanfield, who played a villain in The Harder They Fall. As for Stanfield, he’s also currently starring in the final season of FX’s hit series Atlanta, and will also appear in the upcoming Apple TV+ series The Changeling.
Omar Sy is best known for his starring role in Netflix’s Lupin, as well as for starring in the 2011 French film The Intouchables.
