Strays Movie Review
How do you sum up the R-rated talking-dog movie Strays in a single word? Woof.
A movie where not only are all the good jokes in the trailer but every important “plot” point is as well, Strays is a 90-minute movie that wears out its welcome within 10 minutes.
Judging by its dismal box office performance, I was in the minority who thought there was some potential in the story at hand–an abandoned dog is befriended by several strays and decided to inflict revenge on his previous owner by biting his dick off. In this case, I should have trusted other people’s gut instincts.
Despite an A-grade voice cast including Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Isla Fisher, and Randall Park, Strays is just a dud of a film, a one-note comedy stretched into a feature-length film. The movie isn’t as offensively bad as it is offensively not-funny; it makes for an amusing trailer but not anything more than that.
I’d rather pick up dog poop with my own hands rather than suffer through this thing again. Woof is right.
