Sydney Sweeney’s NSFW Movie With Sequel on the Way Arrives on HBO Max Streaming Today

Sydney Sweeney‘s erotic box office hit has found a new streaming home on HBO Max. Titled The Housemaid, the psychological thriller adapts Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel of the same name.
The Housemaid has been released on HBO Max today. Paul Feig directed the feature from a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine. Sweeney plays Millie Calloway, a young woman with a troubled past who becomes a live-in maid for a wealthy family of Winchester.
However, her new job takes an unexpected turn when she discovers that the family’s seemingly perfect life hides dark secrets. Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar play the wealthy couple, while Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins also appear in supporting roles.
Lionsgate released the R-rated film in theaters, which earned over $400 million against a $35 million budget, according to The Numbers. The film also holds a 74% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 202 reviews. A sequel is also currently in development.

Sydney Sweeney’s upcoming sequel is titled The Housemaid’s Secret, and it adapts McFadden’s 2023 best-selling novel of the same name. It continues Millie Calloway’s story after the events of the first film. Despite her criminal past, Millie continues working as a housekeeper and takes a new job for a mysterious employer.
The film’s description reads, “In The Housemaid’s Secret, Millie returns, taking a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see, only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own.”
Sydney Sweeney reprises her role as Millie alongside Michele Morrone as Enzo, while Kirsten Dunst joins the cast as Wendy Garrick. Off Campus’ star Stephen Kalyn appears as Brock Cunningham, a lawyer. It also stars Brittany Snow as Marybeth, while Paul Anthony Kelly portrays Douglas Garrick.
Distributed by Lionsgate, the film is slated to release in theaters on December 17, 2027.
