What Are The Diamonds on Her Teeth?

Some fans are wondering about Simone Biles tooth gems or what exactly is on her teeth. It’s not visible most of the time, but in close shots of the gymnast when she has a wide smile, you can see that there’s what looks to be diamonds on some of her teeth. You can see this sparkly jewelry when she stood on the podium at the 2024 Paris Olympics after earning a gold medal for winning the women’s all-around in gymnastics. Here are more details of the teeth gems that Simone Biles have been wearing this past y ear.

What are Simone Biles tooth gems?

The Simone Biles tooth gems are jewels that are applied to her cuspids and lateral incisors. She has been wearing them since at least 2023.

Biles can be seen wearing teeth diamonds, in a report by Gulf News, when she won her eighth US national championships back in 2023. The gems are not usually easy to see, especially when there is sufficient lighting, but they can be seen in specific shots with the right angle. Tooth gems are typically made out of glass or crystal, and are bonded to the teeth using a safe adhesive. It’s unclear if the jewels Biles applies to her teeth are real diamonds are not, though.

This isn’t the first time that the gymnast has worn various jewelry on her teeth, either. On May 20, 2023 in an Instagram post by Tony Pombo, an Iris Films videographer who was hired for her wedding, Biles can be seen with diamond grills covering many of her lower teeth while celebrating her gold medal.

The video also features her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, sporting his own set of diamond grills on his lower teeth. As the post reveals, these grills were apparently sold by Johnny Dang & Co as well as Paul Wall. It’s unclear, though, if they are also responsible for her regular tooth gems.

Biles, while noted for her brilliant smile, also wore braces during her teenage years. You can see her wearing them in photos of her winning her first US national championships in August 2013.
