New Starboard Entertainment and Stonecutter Media Partnership Launches Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence on VOD October 6:Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence, the long-awaited fifth installment in one of cult cinema’s most enduring horror-comedy franchises will become available across major transactional VOD platforms on October 6, following a limited theatrical release that began last month and will continue to expand in September.

Since the original Attack of the Killer Tomatoes debuted in 1978, the independently created franchise has grown into a multigenerational pop-culture phenomenon. Its deliberately outrageous mixture of horror, comedy and social satire has spawned four previous feature films, a Saturday morning animated series, a Nintendo game and an enduring merchandising legacy, while also helping launch the career of Hollywood icon George Clooney.

More than four decades later, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence brings the franchise’s proudly unconventional sensibility into a new era, combining its signature absurdist humor with a timely satire of biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and humanity’s relentless drive to improve on nature.

In the film, a young biotech prodigy develops a revolutionary genetically engineered vegetable intended to solve humanity’s greatest problems. When the experiment spirals out of control, however, it unleashes a new generation of killer tomatoes and sets the stage for another wildly unpredictable chapter in the cult saga.

The film features an ensemble cast led by franchise icon John Astin (The Addams Family), reprising his role as Professor Gangreen, alongside comedy legend David Koechner (Anchorman), Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), horror favorite Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), Dan Bakkedahl (Veep), Myrna Velasco (Star Wars Resistance), Vernée Watson (ShrinkingThe Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Paul Bates (Coming to America), Zachary Roozen (Romeo and Juliet Killers), Samantha Bailey (Just Add Magic) and Noor Razooky (The Old Man).

The VOD release marks the beginning of a strategic distribution partnership between Starboard Entertainment and Stonecutter Media, Ltd., bringing together Starboard founder Thomas Zambeck and veteran entertainment executive Steven Karel to expand the companies’ reach across the evolving home-entertainment marketplace. Additional titles distributed through the collaboration will be announced in the months ahead.
