‘Penny Lane is Dead’ Character Posters Tease Bloodshed to Come
The Australian slasher homage to 80s Ozploitation films, Penny Lane is Dead, screams onto Shudder soon. To celebrate, the streamer has released a brand new set of character posters that tease the bloodshed to come.
Set on a hot summer’s night in 1986 Australia, 17-year-old Penny Lane is celebrating getting into college with her longtime girlfriends. After Penny’s jealous and troubled cousin decides a cruel prank is in order, what begins as a thoughtless spiked cupcake game spirals into a night of bloodshed and revenge.
Sophia Wright-Mendelsohn (Wizards!), Tahlee Fereday (Erotic Stories), Alexandra Jensen (Talk to Me), Bailey Spalding (Scrublands), Steve Le Marquand (Vertical Limit), Fletcher Humphrys (Wolf Creek), and Ben O’Toole (Hacksaw Ridge) star.
Each poster below features the characters soaked in blood, most of them screaming their heads off. I’m sold.
The film marks the debut of writer/director Mia-Kate Russel.
In her review out of Fantasia 2026, Dread’s Ashliene McMenamy described the film as “Not only as brutal as promised, but also darkly funny, fresh, and cathartic, with some brilliant performances and a sapphic love story at its center.”
Penny Lane is Dead lands on Shudder on August 28th.
