‘The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster’ Trailer Is A New Take On The Classic Frankenstein Story

The Danish psychological horror-thriller Speak No Evil received international acclaim upon its release last year. Now, Blumhouse is preparing to make a remake… already. Damn that’s a fast turnaround for a movie remake.

James McAvoy in Glass

McAvoy has previously worked with Blumhouse with the two box office hits Split and Glass. Those two movies made over half a billion worldwide combined.

Starring James McAvoy, the theatrical release of the movie is scheduled for August 9, 2024.

The original Danish film follows a Danish family who befriend a Dutch family while on vacation. The weekend quickly takes a dark turn in a remote area of the Netherlands as the Danes try to maintain politeness in the face of unpleasantness.

Last year’s Speak No Evil was a huge hit with both critics and audiences, but it’s currently unknown how closely the remake will follow the original or what changes will be made.

Director James Watkins

James Watkins, known for directing the cult thriller Eden Lake and the Daniel Radcliffe-starring horror movie The Woman In Black, will helm the upcoming Speak No Evil remake.

The script will be based on the screenplay by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup, with Watkins penning his own adaptation. Fans of Black Mirror might recognize Watkins from the popular episode Shut Up and Dance, which he also directed.

In addition to his directing work, Watkins has writing credits for several films, including Eden Lake, Gone, The Descent: Part 2, and the Idris Elba-led action flick The Take.
