Watch Dave Grohl cover Tenacious D’s ‘Tribute’ at a Foo Fighters show in Denver

Dave Grohl has covered Tenacious D‘s ‘Tribute’ at a Foo Fighters show in Denver – watch fan-filmed footage below.

The Foo Fighters have covered Tenacious D during their show at Empower Field in Denver, where Grohl revealed he participated in the making of ‘Tribute’: “I only played the drums on that song.”

Grohl performed the cover during the acoustic section of their gig, and as he only played drums, sung a portion of the song.

The cover follows Tenacious D’s recent controversy during their show in Sydney in July. When Jack Black asked Kyle Gass for his birthday wish, Gass referenced the failed Trump assasination attempt by saying: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

Since the remark, an Australian senator called for their deportation, and the band cancelled their tour, saying “all future creative plans are on hold”.

Gass was also reportedly dropped by his agent following his comments.

Foo Fighters recently had to cut a show in Queens short due to weather conditions, with the band issuing a statement shortly afterwards.

“We are so disappointed that we were unable to play our full set for tonight’s fantastic crowd at Citi Field,” they wrote. “But the safety of our fans, the crew and everyone working in the stadium comes first, so when it was determined that there was no safe way to continue the show in this dangerous weather, we had no choice but to call it a night.”

They continued: “We’re grateful for every second we were able to play for you and looking forward to seeing you again – maybe as soon as Friday!”

Foo Fighers eventually returned to Citi Field that Friday (July 19) with their show in full.

Grohl recently dedicated a performance of ‘Times Like These’ to Tom Morello at Open’er Festival, with Grohl walking up to the former Rage Against the Machine guitarist on side-stage to play up close and personal.

Recalling the moment in a post on Instagram, Morello shared the clip and wrote: “Wild time last night at @opener_festival in Poland rocking out hard with pals @maneskinofficial and Dave Grohl & @foofighters!”

Elsewhere, Dave Grohl has joined Charli XCX’s viral ‘Apple’ dance trend.
