Harmeet Dhillon Details Efforts at DOJ to Make Sure Only American Citizens Are Voting (VIDEO) * The Gateway Pundit * by Mike LaChance

Harmeet Dhillon, who oversees the Civil Rights Division at the Trump Department of Justice, appeared on Newsmax and talked about the efforts being made at the agency to make sure that only American citizens are voting.

Dhillon pointed out that DOJ is only one piece of the puzzle and noted that other agencies, some at the state level, are part of this process as well.

She also said that under the Biden administration, the DOJ Civil Rights Office was actually going after states and cities that were trying to require ID to vote. That only changed because Trump won in 2024.

Harmeet Dhillon, assistant attorney general for civil rights, told Newsmax on Wednesday the Department of Justice is working hard to ensure that “only citizens” are allowed to vote in federal elections, as the law requires.

On “Ed Henry: The Big Take,” Dhillon said that while the Trump administration is working on the issue, “Congress is going to need to make [it] very clear in fixing some of these loopholes that states are using.”

Dhillon said there should be no question that “we have to have only citizens voting in federal elections. That is incredibly important.

“And what we have learned just in the last few weeks from New Jersey and numerous other jurisdictions, including prosecutions that DOJ has done, there was an indictment today, that noncitizens are canceling out the votes of American citizens.”

Dhillon referenced Wednesday’s arrest of a Chinese national in Massachusetts on charges of submitting a fraudulent voter registration and ballot in the 2024 presidential election in the name of another Chinese national.

“That is unacceptable for one or 1,000,” she said. “So we’re going to stop it during this administration.”

She pointed to the vouching system in Minnesota, which she described as “something that the Department of Justice has actually been challenging dating back to January of this year when I sent a letter to the secretary of state over there.”

It is just amazing that the Trump administration has to battle with members of the Democrat Party to try to make sure that only American citizens can vote.

It’s such a basic thing that you would think is just a given fact. Only Americans should vote in American elections.
