Leftists Lose Their Minds Over Rep. Brandon Gill’s Columbus Day Tweet * The Gateway Pundit * by Mike LaChance
Rep. Brandon Gill of Texas has triggered a whole bunch of lefties for simply writing a tweet about Christopher Columbus on Columbus Day.
When did it become controversial to celebrate Columbus Day and Christopher Columbus?
At some point in recent decades, the left decided that Columbus was an evil figure, who is responsible for the deaths of any native Americans who ever crossed paths with him. Of course, what it’s really about is their hatred of Western Civilization.
Here’s Gill’s tweet:
Christopher Columbus is one of the great men of world history.
Guided by faith in Christ, our European ancestors came to the New World, settled wild lands, and built western civilization.
Our history and our culture are exceptional– and we’re no longer apologizing for it. pic.twitter.com/Fi3iBoVAZy

Here are some of the crazy responses from the left:

U people are savages, the real devil of the world. https://t.co/rbVAJUxsNI— BRAIN (@THE_BRAIN_1) October 12, 2026
Um, no!
He kidnapped Indigenous people and discussed conquering them.
He forced Taíno people to work for Spanish colonists.
He imposed coercive gold tributes.
He sent people to Spain to be sold as slaves.
He, in fact, was fucking trash!— Billie Nelson (@Mamabenergy2) October 12, 2026
Of course you worship a man who committed genocide, enslaved people, and trafficked humans for profit, including taking young girls as sex slaves…oh & treated sexual violence as a reward for his soldiers….that totally tracks 👍👍

Sure. Just make shit up as you go along instead of admitting the man was a brutal despot who died in disgrace.

I was wondering when the racists would show up praising Columbus. You didn’t disappoint.
