It’s not often you know your favorite show will be sticking around for a while, but such has been the case with FBI after it received a multi-season renewal near the end of its sixth season in April 2024.
That renewal took the show through Season 9. That’s the one that will be airing in the fall of 2026, and CBS has set its return date for early in its premiere week. Read on for everything we know about what’s to come for FBI, from that premiere date to the cast and more.
When does FBI Season 9 premiere?
FBI Season 9 will premiere on Monday, October 5, at 8/7c. CBS moved it up an hour this season (and that’s also when the Season 8 finale aired last spring).

What is FBI about?
CBS describes it as follows: “FBI is a fast-paced drama about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This elite unit brings to bear all their talents, intellect and technical expertise on major cases in order to keep New York and the country safe. … These first-class agents tenaciously investigate cases of tremendous magnitude, including terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence.”
How did FBI Season 8 end?
In the finale, the team was forced to work with Claire Coffee‘s Anna (shady) and her strike team (just as shady) to stop a dangerous bioweapon in the city. Unfortunately, it was used, leaving the lives of a bus full of civilians hanging in the balance. But the strike team stopped the agents from keeping the serum that could help, even brutally fighting Maggie and OA to do so. While ADIC Green (Curtiss Cook) wanted them to move on, OA refused to let it go, arguing to the point that he was fired. But after he said his goodbyes and Anna approached him to offer a spot on her strike team, he called Maggie and Isobel to let the know he was in.
Showrunner Mike Weiss confirmed to TV Insider after the finale that Zaki’s not going anywhere, “but we might see [OA] standing in some different rooms at the beginning of Season 9, which I think will be really exciting. Letting him and the show shake things up at the top of Season 9. We’re really excited to see him deep undercover in a different way.”
