Despina Mirou Delivers a Career-Defining Performance in Scarface Resurrection

Award-winning international actress Despina Mirou is earning extraordinary praise for what many are already calling one of the most ambitious performances of her career in the upcoming film Scarface Resurrection.
Fresh off filming in New York City, Mirou has become one of the most talked-about performers connected to the production, portraying not one, but three distinct roles: herself, Al Pacino’s legendary Tony Montana, and Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic Elvira Hancock.

The highly anticipated film reunites elements of the original Scarface legacy while introducing a bold new vision. Mirou joins an impressive cast that includes Roberta Pacino, sister of Hollywood icon Al Pacino, original Scarface stars Steven Bauer and the late Ángel Salazar, as well as Michael Musto and numerous notable performers from the worlds of film, media, and entertainment.
For Mirou, the project represented both a tremendous challenge and a rare artistic opportunity.

Transforming into Tony Montana required extensive physical and emotional preparation. Equally demanding was her portrayal of Elvira Hancock, a role that required Mirou to dramatically alter her appearance, including intentionally losing nearly 20 pounds to capture Pfeiffer’s elegant screen presence. Adding to the achievement, Mirou personally handled her own makeup transformations for both characters.
“It took me about seven minutes to become Michelle and around forty minutes to become Tony,” Mirou revealed.
Director Eric Spade Rivas encouraged Mirou to improvise throughout production, allowing the actress to bring her own creative instincts to several scenes. Her contributions became so valuable that portions of dialogue were expanded and refined through collaboration with the director, showcasing her talents not only as a performer but also as a storyteller.

Filming took place throughout New York City, including iconic locations in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, historic theaters, churches, rooftop locations, and numerous recognizable city landmarks. Whether portraying Tony Montana’s swagger or Elvira’s sophisticated vulnerability, Mirou immersed herself completely in every role.
Off-camera, the actress became something of a sensation throughout New York’s comedy scene. After completing long filming days that often included more than a dozen scenes, Mirou would appear at some of the city’s most popular comedy venues, remaining in character as either Tony Montana or Elvira Hancock while performing live for audiences.

Her appearances at the Broadway Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, Phoenix Bar & Grill, and The Producers Club quickly became the subject of conversation among local performers and comedy fans alike. Audiences were stunned by her ability to seamlessly transform between the two legendary characters while maintaining her own unique comedic style.
One particularly memorable moment occurred while Mirou was walking to a comedy performance dressed as Tony Montana. Acclaimed actor Seth Rogen reportedly recognized her transformation and stopped to take photographs, impressed by the striking resemblance and commitment to the role.
Photographer Rob Klein documented many of Mirou’s most remarkable transformations throughout the production, capturing both her dramatic on-set performances and her live comedy appearances around New York City.

Those close to the production describe Mirou’s portrayals as respectful tributes rather than simple impersonations. Her Tony Montana captures the larger-than-life confidence and intensity that made the character legendary, while her Elvira channels the elegance, mystery, and emotional complexity that made Michelle Pfeiffer’s performance unforgettable.
What makes the achievement even more impressive is the sheer range displayed by the actress. Within days, Mirou moved between portraying herself, Tony Montana, Elvira Hancock, and several other celebrated characters in live performances throughout New York, demonstrating a versatility rarely seen in modern performers.

When asked whether the demanding schedule had become exhausting, Mirou offered a response that perfectly reflects her work ethic:
“I’m not in New York on vacation. I’m here to work, and I’m going to see it through.”
That determination has become a defining theme of both her career and her work on Scarface Resurrection.
Industry insiders are already discussing awards potential for Mirou’s triple-role performance, with many praising the actress for taking on the daunting challenge of portraying two of cinema’s most iconic characters while making them uniquely her own.

As anticipation continues to build for the release of Scarface Resurrection, one thing is clear: Despina Mirou has delivered a performance that audiences will be talking about long after the film reaches the screen.
