LEGO Joker Wall Art Recreates ‘Detective Comics’ #880

One of the greatest comic book covers of all time is, hands down, Jock’s Joker cover for Detective Comics #880. His style is instantly recognizable, but that cover? I’d call it his magnum opus. It’s been reprinted and paid homage to a gazillion times, and I still love looking at it.
Now LEGO is turning that nightmare into 1,849-piece wall art, with preorders open for $169.99 and shipping beginning January 1, 2027. You can order it directly from LEGO.

Based on the 2011 cover, The Joker Wall Art Comic Cover gives that unhinged expression a three-dimensional treatment, with the eyes and other facial features extending from the surface. The build also incorporates Batarangs, swords, flowers, and little “Ha, ha, ha, ha” details into its deeper layers.
The finished piece measures over 20 inches high, 15 inches wide, and 2 inches deep, and can hang on a wall or stand on a shelf. It’s an adult set, recommended for ages 18 and up, with digital instructions available through the LEGO Builder app.

Jock has become synonymous with Batman for me, and with Absolute Batman as big as it’s become, there’s even more reason to celebrate his work. His collaborations with Scott Snyder also include the incredible Wytches, which is getting an animated adaptation at Prime Video. As we previously reported, Snyder shared that the season’s animatics had been completed earlier this year.
More recently, the two collaborated on Snyder’s first Absolute Batman cover, an exclusive variant for issue #25. Snyder supplied the drawing, and Jock inked and colored it, putting his special stamp on the sketch and bringing it to life. It’s an instantly iconic cover to me, and signed and remarqued editions have already sold out through Mark Brooks’ store.

But Detective Comics #880 is still the one for me. Turning that face into a dimensional LEGO build is a pretty fucking great way to celebrate it.
